An artificial lake in the grounds of Shardeloes House (beside the A413, between Amersham and Little Missenden). The Chiltern Tunnels pass under the Misbourne near the point where the river enters the lake (on the left of the picture). Vibrations caused by tunnelling may disturb the clay lining of the lake, or disrupt the earth dam retaining the water, leading to loss of the lake. No risk assessment for these scenarios has been published.
