Leather & Bowood Lanes

Emails to & from Charlotte Brewster, HS2 Ltd :-

Engineering update spreadsheets

These show Bowood & Leather lanes as access to the ajacent compounds, while the maps show access along the line. I spoke to an engineer after the last forum  meeting, who suggested that the maps are correct. Can you confirm this ? There is a strong case to be made against using the lanes ( which are too narrow ), but if you don’t plan to do this, we can save making it.

Specific information I can give you at the present time: ( 19-Dec-2012 )

B485 - At the present time the construction access routes envisaged for longer distance access to the site would not use the B485 from Chesham. The length of B485 running up from the A413 to the HS2 alignment near South Heath would be used to access construction compounds and works in this area. As noted, bulk earthworks for excavation and disposal on site would generally be undertaken along the trace. If material needed to be taken away for disposal off-site from works in this area  (this is still work in progress) then this would likely be along the trace then down the A485 and onto the A413. We currently do not envisage construction access routes travelling through Chesham.

Bowood & Leather lanes -  Large deliveries will arrive via the primary construction worksites and use the temporary site access route (adjacent to the trace) to supply the secondary construction worksites.  Local highway access to the secondary construction worksites will be provided as indicated on the schedule. It is anticipated that these local highway accesses will only be used by cars (staff and visitors) and infrequent, smaller deliveries not suited for central stockpiling and distribution (i.e. site office and welfare consumables).
